This project dives into an urban intervention sited around Ponte della Scienza, one of the bridges crossing the Tiber River in Rome, Italy. The site, a former industrial zone, is now semi-abandoned with scattered programs located in an unorganized manner around the river banks. Though one of the most densely populated neighborhoods is located adjacent to the site, there is a sudden stop of traffic upon arrival to the site.
Upon further examination, a one-floor-height drop in the landscape is determined to be the causation of this abrupt end of traffic between the neighborhood and the river bank. Thus, this project focuses on creating a connection, a space, that would bring residents of the neighborhood to the Tiber waterfront, activating the area along the river as well as bringing vibrancy and foot traffic to the areas above. The proposed structure sites along the drop and contains housing, commercial zones, and office space.
